Joe is homeless and is a fixture around a Waffle House on J. Clyde Morris in Newport News, VA. I saw him behind the store and asked him to come from the cold. I think he was a bit leery of entering the store because a police car was in the parking lot, but I told him he was with me.

Everyone knew him, including the cop (who has arrested several times) and all welcomed him. He is a small man with a kind soul. I bought him a breakfast and in return I asked if I could photograph him. He was very grateful for the meal and enjoyed having his photo taken. I had a coupon for a free meal and I gave it to him.
